Organized North to South – updated February 2025

There are currently two completed sections of the Fall Line: short sections in Ashland and Henrico.

A major section is under construction, “Design-Build 1” that will connect the existing Ashland section all the way through Hanover County and a short distance into Henrico County. This section is currently NOT OPEN to public users, but it is advancing ahead of schedule thanks to VDOT and its design-build team. Please do not access the trail here at this time, even if some sections appear completed.

A second major section, “Design-Build 2”, will tackle over nine miles from the southern terminus in Petersburg north through Colonial Heights and into Chesterfield County. VDOT is currently selecting the contractor for this project and expects to bring construction in 2025.

Richmond’s Bryan Park segment is in design and under review after a groundbreaking in August 2024.

Henrico’s seven remaining sections, each about a mile in length, are all planned and funded, and construction is expected in 2025.

By the end of 2025, about 20 miles of the Fall Line is expected to be actively under construction or completed, and the 13 mile contiguous section between Ashland and Richmond should be completed for all trail users.
